Measurement of Bone Mineral Density in Cycling Exercise Performed Old Man using Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of cycling exercise performed in old man on tone mineral density. subjects were cycling exercise performed 12 male old man, 15 controls. Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry was used to determine BMD(lumbar spine, femur, neck, trochanter, ward¢¥s triangle).
The results statistically analyzed on these data were summarized as follows;
I. Lumbar spine bone mineral density in cycling exercise group were significantly higher than controls.
2. Femur bone mineral density(in trochanter) in cycling exercise group were significantly higher than controls.
Results suggest that the effects of exercise relative to maintenance of bone mineral density may be general as well as localized.
